2-Chloro-1-butenyl phosph(on)ates of formula (I) are new (R1O)(R2)(O)-O-CH=CCl-CH(OCOR3)-CH(R4)2 (I) (R1 is a 1-4C satd. or 3 or 4C unsatd. hydrocarbon residue; R2 is a 1-4C satd. hydrocarbon residue, an aromatic residue or a gp. -OR5 (where R5 is 1-4c satd. or 3 or 4C unsatd. hydrocarbon residue); R3 is a 1-3C satd. hydrocarbon residue opt. substd. by halogen (pref.
