A circuit arrangement is for protections against excess or over-voltages in transistors aims at providing complete suppression of over-voltages, which results in only small losses overall. To provide protection, the collector-emitter circuit of one transistor is connected in parallel with a network that consists of a diode in series with a varistor connected in shunt with a capacitor. The varistor used is a silicon oxide type varistor, and has a steeply rising characteristic.
