The multichannel transmission system is for SSB modulated carriers. It has all carrier frequencies arranged as an integral multiple of a fundamental frequency which is present or obtainable at all points in the transmission system. The carrier frequencies needed for modulation and demodulation are derived by dividing, multiplying or mixing (and subsequent filtering) the fundamental frequency using non-linear elements. The advantage of using carrier related in this way lies in reducing the number of components and the cost of system.
