The school bus is fitted with contacts on the passenger doors, coupled to a control box in which a periodic relay is connected to a relay which connects all four direction indicators in parallel. The driver merely sets the control to automatic, with the flashers operating at each pickup point. The connecting relay can be replaced by two relays so that in the event of a relay failure, then at least one flasher operates on the front and rear. The system also has repeater lights on the dashboard and can have an indicator sign on the roof.
