Wood wool panels contg. mineral binders - with part of the wood replaced by granulated gypsum to reduce cost

Panels are made of wood shavings bonded by minerals, where the materials are fed into a mould and hardened by heat and pressure. Part of the wood shavings is replaced by a gypsum granulate which has been hardened by adding water. The wood shavings are pref. mixed with the gypsum granulate, and then the mineral binder is added; and the gypsum may replace up to 50% of the wood shavings. The gypsum granulate is pref. used only in the inner layers of the panel; and the gypsum pref. consists of spheroids or a shape similar to spheroids. The mineral binders are e.g. Portland cement, Sorel's cement, or water-glass. The cost of the panels is reduced without impairing their strength or machineability.
