The aerosol producer uses ultrasound and comprises a container for the fluid being atomised, an electro-acoustic converter and a container between these for a coupling fluid as well as a main housing. The container is carried in a holder which also serves as lid for the coupling fluid container. The container should be rigidly secured to the holder acting as lid, this fitted releasably onto the fluid container. The fluid container forms the upper limit of the housing. The housing is rectangular in plan and the fluid container should be designed as a bowl of rectangular plan to fit into the housing. the top of the bowl should lie flush with the top of the housing, with the rim of the bowl enclosing wholly or part of the circumference of the housing rim.
