In the machine in which, en route to the pressing zone, the fruit skins opened. The berries are then tipped up to a predetermined height on a sieve, the height of the pile being maintained by continuously tipping more berries on to it. The fruits resting directly on the sieve are pressed only by the static load of the heap, and the lowest layer of fruits is pushed intermittently from the surface of the sieve into a sieve-form gutter from which they are discharged. Method ensures a more delicate handling of the fruit than with screw presses, hammer mills, etc. without any crushing of the seeds, stalks, etc., so that the juice is, as far as is possible, free from solid matter.
|
