<p>In a mixer-dissolver unit there is a tank in which is a basket for the solid to be dissolved. Liquid is pumped around a circulating loop back through the solids basket, dissolving the solid, and the liquor return pipe into the tank has an arrangement of nozzles to promote circulation and avoid lump formation. Used to make up batches of de-icing as aq. solns. of sodium and/or potassium chloride, for use in road treatment during winter. Application of the salts as soln. rather than solid avoids the loss of solids which takes place by wind and traffic action.</p> |
