Casting vessel having a coating consisting of a thick layer of a good refractory matl. which is a good thermal insulant, covered on the inside with a relatively thin layer-wear layer - of very good refractory, e.g. based on MgO and enclosed in a metallic housing fixing together the constituent components of the vessel.
