Newcmpds. of formula: (where R = H, NH2; opt. halogenated alkyl (C1-C3) phenyl; OH; OMe; OE; NH.OH or the group -NR2R3 where R2 and R3 = Me, et or together with the attached N atom may be piperidino, 2-methylpiperidino, piperazino, morpholino, pyrrolidino, 4-methylpiperidino, 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-piperazino, 4-methylpiperazino, 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-piperazino, hexamethyleneimino or ethylaminoethylamino (sic);X=O; :N.OH, or R.C =CN R1 = H, phenyl, n = 0,1,2 OR 3 (N - OR IOS-) when R1 = H, n = 1,2 or 3 when R1 = phenyl; Y = OH, OMe, OEt, NHOH, or NR2R3 where R2,R3 singly=Me, Et di-ethylamino ethyl or NR2 R3 =the heterocyclic rings as detailed under R) are anti-inflammatory, neurotropic and normolipaemic agents.
