1514195 Sparking plug electrodes ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 May 1975 [18 Sept 1974 16 April 1975] 21132/75 Heading FIB A sparking plug electrode 11 comprises at least one filament 19 made from corrosion-resistant material which is highly electrically conductive and a matrix material 18 in which the filament is embedded and which is surrounded by a sheath 17 made from a corrosion-resistant material the matrix material being copper or a corrosion-resistant low alloy copper having a high electrical and thermal conductivity. As described 5 to 50 per cent of the cross-section of the electrode may be copper. Preferably approximately 30 per cent of the crosssection of the electrode is of copper. As shown in Fig. 2, there are seven filaments but in a modification, (not shown), there is only one filament. It is stated that up to 200 filaments can be embedded in the matrix material suitable materials for the filaments are corrosion-resistant alloys based on nickel, chromium or cobalt and similar alloys may be used for the sheath enclosing the matrix material. The filament material and the sheath material may comprise at least 95 wt. per cent of nickel.
|
