Compsn. absorbing oxygen from olefins, inert gases or solvents - contains manganese-(II) cpds. on inert carrier, and does not cause polymerisation
摘要

Compsn. absorbing trace amts. of oxygen and other impurities from olefins inert gases or solvents is prepd. by impregnating a carrier material (spec. surface area >100 m2/g; specific pore volume >0.50 cm3/g.) with an aq. soln of a Mn cpd. pref. Mn(NO3)2; activating at 60-600 degrees C under a press. between 10 mm. Hg and 5 atm. in an oxygen-contg. gas for 5-300 min and treating the activated material with a reducing gas under a press. between 10 mm. Hg and 5 atm. at 250-600 degrees C for 1-60 min. Method is esp. suitable for the purification of olefins because Mn(II) cpds. very effectively absorb oxygen and practically do not induce polymerisation. The compsn. shows no dusting tendency so that it can be used for the purification of inert gas streams. Apart from O2 the compsn. readily absorbs other impurities, e.g. water or acetylene.
