[Also in Divisions F2 and H1] Vent valve particularly for petroleum tanks comprises a base 10 for fixing to the tank and a valve member 16 hinged to the base and engageable with a slat 12. A lip 22 of the valve member extends beyond the slat and is spaced from an opposed partof the base. The lip and opposed part carry one a magnet 44 and the other a permeable member 24 to exert a predetermined closing force on the valve. The magnet may comprise a ring of poles 44. The stainless steel plate member 24, is loosely mounted on a pin 26, is provided with two apertures (36, 38) on the same radius as the poles. The magnet 44 is adjustable angularly to vary the hold. A pin 32 keeps the plate in angular position. The valve is returned to closed position by gravity. A closure diaphragm 20 is fixed as shown to the valve member.</p> |
