The corrosion inhibitor for galvanic primary elements having an alkaline electrolyte and a negative zinc electrode consists of a saturated or unsaturated monocarboxylic acid with at least two ethanolamide radicals. It is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent (e.g. water) and applied to the zinc electrode. The solvent is then allowed to evaporate. This inhibitor is non-toxic. It permits a significant reduction of the mercury content in the zinc hitherto required to reduce the corrosive side reactions. |
