Digital processing system for handwriting - produces digital signals from analogue output of sensor located under table during handwriting

Signals generated during handwritings are converted into a coded digital form suitable for machine reading. A sensor located under a table on which writing paper is placed, generates an analogue signal characteristic of the symbol being written. The analogue symbol is either converted to a digital form using a microprocessor or by reference to a table held in memory. The coded digital word is then capable of normal processing.
