Ski brake with striding U:shaped brake arch - connected by clamping bridge piece directly to curved leaf spring mounted on ski

The ski brake consists of a U-shaped brake arch (7) and a curved leaf spring (4) having one end (14) connected to the ski (1) and the other end (17) connected to the brake arch (7). The latter (7) is pref. of a light yet durable metal. It has two parallel brake arms, one for each side of the ski. They are L-shaped and are mirror images of each other. The spring (4) is fixed to the ski (1) by a screw (3) countersunk into a clamping bridge piece (2). The latter (2) embraces the whole width of the leaf spring (4). The other end of the spring (4) is held by another clamping bridge piece mounted in a recess of the brake arch (7).
