Sugar beet harvesting machine - has roots lifted from ground by oscillating arms and fef by vertical wheel over sieve to conveyor

The machine has rotating blades in its forward section which remove the green tops from the sugar beet. The roots are then lifted from the ground by means of further blades. These blades are fitted to arms comprising vertical and horizontal portions and are pivoted on the machine frame. These arms are driven by an eccentric and links to provide oscillatory motion. The roots are lifted onto bars forming a cleaning sieve and are pushed upwards onto a conveyor by means of vertical wheels. This has spring fingers around its circumference and rotates on a horizontal shaft behind the lifting blades.
