The truck consists of a 4-wheeled chassis (1 - 6) with two upright columns (8) at the front, on which lifting forks (10) travel up and down under the action of a hydraulic ram (15). A pair of pedals (7) are coupled by a transmission system either to the front wheels (2) or to a hydraulic pump (20) supplying the ram, while handlebars (6) are coupled by a steering linkage to the wheels (3) of the rear axle. The pedals can drive onto a layshaft, from which the drive is taken, under the control of a selector lever either to the pump or to the travel wheels. In addition to light weight, the truck can be used readily in confined spaces, no atmospheric pollution resulting. |
