A pipe flange assembly is for connecting a pipe to the flat wall of a vessel, esp. a basement drain tank or rainwater tank. The end of the connecting length of pipe has an internal thread, into which there is screwed an externally threaded internal sleeve (I) with a flange at one end. The flange of (I) bears against the inner face of the tank wall around the opening of the sleeve is screwed tightly into the connecting length of pipe, thus clamping the tank wall into the assembly. Pref. the length of the cylindrical portion of (I) is 2-10 times the thickness of the tank wall, and there is an un-threaded length at least equal to the tank wall thickness. The internally threaded portion of the connecting length is pref. a socket of larger dia. than the other end; a shoulder between the two portions acts as a stop for the end of the next length of pipe. Material for (I) and connecting length is pref. sanitary quality PVC or other plastics. Used for rapidly and easily making an attachment (nozzle) on a tank. The flange assembly can be fitted in any flat part of the tank wall where an opening can be drilled or cut.
