Flexible nonwoven fabric protected against abrasion - by surface layer of self binding paper and/or synthetic fibres

An abrasion resistant, flexible non-woven fabric, has a base of natural or synthetic fibres (or mixt.) consolidated by an adhesive. The fabric has a surface layer of refined paper FIBRES synthetic fibres or artificial fibres which are self binding. The surface layer constitutes =10% (pref. 5%) the wt. of the base. The fabric is highly resistant to abrasion. The surface layer may be of refined paper fibres having a characteristic of 25 degrees SR or 35 degrees SR, or polynosic fibres having a characteristic of 83 degrees SR. Pref. the surface layer is applied as a fibrous suspension.
