1356426 Pressure sensitive materials BURMETAL SA 30 July 1971 [31 July 1970 5 Jan 1971 13 July 1971] 35993/71 Heading D2B A support having on at least one face a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive having a grab strength of between 5 and 150 centi newtons per cm is placed with an adhesive layer adjacent a support having on the face opposite the adhesive layer a transferable marking layer and pressure is applied in image configuration to one of the supports so as to transfer a pattern of marking material to the adhesive layer. Specified materials for the adhesive layer are polyurethanes prepared from polyol polyethers, silicones or acrylic resins cross-linked by peroxides, amines isocyanates or metal cations, polyvinyl ethers and, natural rubber polyisoprene, polyisobutylene, petroleum resin, colophony esterified with glycerine, triethylene glycol ester of hydrogenated colophony, acrylic acid, stannous octoate and tolylene diisocyanate. The transfer layer may comprise (1) organic polymers e.g. polyvinyl-alcohols-ethers and acetates, vinyl acetate vinyl chloride copolymers, acrylic derivatives, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetates, cellulose acetobutyrates, methyl cellulose, ethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, styrene resins and polyurethanes (2) plasticizers e.g. phthalates, chlorinated diphenyls and triphenyls tricresyl phosphate and polyesters and (3) wax fillers and pigments. The support for the transferable layer may be a polymer or copolymer of styrene, an olefin, a cellulose derivative, polyvinyl acetal, a polyvinyl ester or halide, a polyester or a polycarbonate wood or metal. The support for the adhesive layer may be polyvinyl chloride, a cellulose derivative e.g. cellulose acetate, polyethylene, polyester, or paper. The formed image may be covered with a protective layer and a non-stick layer may be applied to the non imaged side of a double coated adhesive layer. The supports may be metallised, pigmented, iridescent or luminescent. |
