<p>Pressure vessel for curing a mixt. of a crosslinkable primary material and an inert secondary material such as cellulosic scrap in the presence of O2 or O3 at elevated temp. and pressures beneath flux of neutrons. Pref. the highest tolerable neutron flux is directed from an overhead end cap with suitable sheidling into a cylindrical chamber fitted with a ram in the base incorporating passages for introducing the moulding premix or for venting or evacuating the chamber. O2, O3 or N2 can be introduced via a manifold in a neutral plate between the neutron source and a false plate with a neutral coating of enamel or a synthetic resin. The chamber is similary coated and surrounded by a heat exchange jacket. The operating pressure is >100, pref. 140-200 bars. Method is used e.g. for mfr. of materials which resemble silk, using as the primary material extracts from the glands of silkworms which produce the filaments for making cocoons. The vegetable extracts may be selected to be nourishment for silkworms.</p> |
