The conveyor has a closed loop, and consists of a band formed by a number of segments. The band has associated drive units to drive part of the band at a relatively low constant linear speed and another part of the band at a similar higher speed. The segments are positioned on the drive unit, each segment being in contact with neighbouring construction sections. All segments are arranged so that they can slide relative to each other. Due to this the segments are in a more upright position when moving through a lower speed zone than when moving through a higher speed zone.
