A catalyst is prepd. by (a) impregnating a refractory inorganic oxide with a soln. of an aminopolycarboxylic acid chelating agent, (b) heating the treated support in a soln. of a salf of Ge, Sn, Pb, Sb, or Bi, to form a chelate of the metal on the support, and (c) drying and calcining the impregnated support at 400-1200 degrees F to decompose the chelate. The chelating agent prevents hydrolysis and premature pptn. of the metals on the support. Better dispersion of the metal on the support is obtd. The catalyst is esp. for hydrocarbon reforming. It may also be used for (d)hydrogenation, isomerisation, hydrocracking or oxidn. of hydrocarbons.
|
