<p>The tunnelling shield deflector and steering system can angle the shield relative to the main tunnel axis. A cylindrical tube interposed between the shield (16) and the tunnel tube lining (1) is divided between its end-faces in a plane oblique to the centre axis of the cylinder. The tumbler disc (4, 10) thus formed, together with the vertical base surfaces (4, 10) on their casings, can rotate on the tunnel tube or shield as appropriate, and also on one another. These rotation movements are produced with concentric rotation between the disc surfaces (4, 10) and tunnel tube or shield. The drive produces eccentric rotation between the two discs themselves such that the disc linked to the tube (1) revolves round a pivot towards its thickest point.</p> |
