<p>The plant comprises a concrete vessel of oval cross-section and supported on piles (13) from a foundation raft. The turbine (1) may be housed in a compression chamber (24) with a proportion of the vanes submerged, and the air pressure constantly regulated to maintain the water (20) level. A compartment locating adjacent to the compression chamber houses multiplication mechanisms (19), exciters (10) and generators (11). This latter compartment is maintained at atmospheric pressure, with an access shaft opening out to the atmosphere. Decompression chambers (5,17) and portholes (8) may be provided between the turbine and generator rooms. Compression may be deployed to regulate and purify the contained air.</p> |
