The car roof is fitted with a number of parallel ribs (18) screwed to the roof to spread the load from the luggage. The other ribs have lips (22) under the outside edges. The luggage is covered by an inverted rigid cover (20) which rests on the outer ribs using elastic strips (30) and which is secured by straps (34) spaced around the cover. The straps grip under the lips of the ribs and are secured by lockable bolts. The luggage cover is streamlined and strong. It protects the luggage and prevents it from being stolen. The cover also hides unsightly loads.
