Such an apparatus comprises a lower portion acting as a runner forming an undeformable shield, with at least two shield portions being connected by a hinge (4). These portions have skating carrying surfaces (6) formed by hollow bodies. Handles (11) and a seat (7) are fixed thereto. The seat is made of soft material. The rigid structure prevents a substantial deformation of the shield which insures proper skidding while preventing an accumulation of snow at the front. A change of direction is effected by unloading one of the two portions (2, 3) of the shield. The apparatus is foldable and may further be used as a garment hanger.
