Monolithic refractory linings for furnaces - with interlocking anchoring of one layer with another

Removable elastic elements are placed on the surface of the first layer of refractory at its interface with the next layer to be applied, and partly buried in the material. When the material hardens and the elements are removed interlocking grooves are formed, i.e. the maximum width of the groove is not at its opening. The materials of the two layers are different. The system may be used for decorative construction e.g. in plastering. The cost of heat resistant steel anchors is eliminated and the system is esp. suitable for applying thin layers of materials with different coefficients of expansion.
