The connection to attach a wrist-watch strap to the watch body, uses the inherent elasticity of the strap to secure the attachment. The fittings are fixed to the strap and separate telescopic pins are not required. In one design the end of the strap (2) has a dowel (1) projecting from each flank, to engage sockets on the opposed internal faces of two cantilever arms. This dowel is longer than the distance between the cantilever arms (3), and can have a central section of increased dia. fixed in the strap. The remaining dowel lengths within the strap are housed in clearance holes. The connection is made by inserting one dowel in its socket. Continuing transverse pressure on the strap end then causes the strap to compress elastically and the dowel to gain further penetration, until sufficient clearance obtains to insert the other dowel. The strap then returns to its original size and the connection is secured.
|
