Refractory lining for steel making converters - where bricks are laid in spirals to reduce lining costs

Converter lining made of moulded refractory material utilises >= spiral formed of bricks. The start of each spiral consists of bricks with a top surface sloping upwards along the ascending spiral, whereas the remaining bricks all have the same parallel piped shape. The lining pref. employs four spiral windings, i.e. similar to a four start thread. The coat of lining the converter is reduced and the working life of the lining is increased. The manual work involved in lining the converter is less arduous.
