1469466 Clamping hubs on shafts UNITED AIRCRAFT CORP 25 Sept 1974 [28 Sept 1973] 41732/74 Heading F2U A member 14 is clamped on a shaft 10 by means of a segmented ring 20 having an inner conical surface 22 engaging a conical surface 18 of a groove 16 of the shaft 10, a retaining ring 28 having a flange 30 overlying the segmented ring 20 being fixed to the ring and clamping bolts 34 extending through the ring 20. The ring 20 is shown in two segments 20a, 20b having their ends overlapping and pinned together by pins 21, 23 (Fig. 2) (or alternatively by bolts, Figs. 6 and 8, not shown). The member 14 (of a bearing assembly) is clamped (Fig. 3) between a flange 12 of shaft 10 and a pressure ring 36 acted upon by the bolts 34. The retaining ring 28 is shown fixed to segmented ring 20 by screws 32, but may be alternatively retained by the bolts securing the halves of segmented ring 20 if such are used (Fig. 8, not shown). Ring 28 may be replaced by two rings, one on each axial side of ring 20 and each overlying part of the periphery thereof. |
