ROLL FOR TRANSFERRING HOT BILLET OR THE LIKE

PURPOSE:To obtain a roll for transfer which is highly resistant to thermal cracking and wear, lasts long and does not overcool a hot billet or the like by fixing projecting bodies formed of ceramics onto supporting plates so as to project from the outside surface of the roll body. CONSTITUTION:A billet 8 of a high temp. is transferred in contact with projecting bodies 6, 6' formed of ceramics fixed onto plural elastic supporting plates 5 rotating together with a roll body 1 and is prevented from contacting directly with the body 1. Generation of crack and wear in the body 1 is thus obviated and the overcooling of the billet 8 is prevented by the water-cooled roll body 1.
