CERAMIC CASTING MOLD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To decrease thermal deformation and wear loss and to extend the life of a casting mold by using a ceramic material which has the thermal deformation resistance larger than the thermal deformation resistance of ordinary used copper or copper alloy, has wear resistance and has no possibility of copper attack as a base body material. CONSTITUTION:The wall of a casting mold is constituted of a base body formed by impregnating metal having the heat conductivity higher than the heat conductivity of a ceramic material of which the ratio of lambda/alpha in the temp. region of about 400 deg.C between the coefft. of thermal expansion as designated as alpha(X10<-6>/ deg.C) and the heat conductivity as designated as lambda(kcal.m.hr. deg.C) is larger than the value of said ratio with pure copper to said ceramic material. The metal or alloy to be impregnated is silver or silicon.
