<p>1510830 Coating apparatus H BEHR [trading as HERMANN BEHR & SOHN] 30 Oct 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 44817/75 Heading B2L Spraying apparatus comprises a rotatable article carrier 21 and a spraying unit 23, the drive of the carrier and switching of the unit being controlled by fluid pressure medium. The carrier 21 is mounted on a base 19 which fits onto a keyed drive shaft 15, which is driven by a belt and pulleys arrangement from pinion 7. Pinion 7 is rotated by a rack at the end of piston 5 reciprocated by fluid pressure in cylinder 4. Carrier 21 is thus rotated on the forward stroke of the piston, but frictional engagement of surfaces 18, 22 and a free-wheel clutch 27 prevents rotation on the return. The limits of the stroke and operation of the spray unit are controlled by valves actuated by cams on the piston. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 3, 4 not shown, carriers are rotatably mounted at opposite ends of a rotatable arm (44) mounted on drive shaft 15. The arm is arrested with one carrier in an unloading position, while the other rotates as the spray unit is activated. In a further embodiment, Figs. 6-8 not shown, a pair of carriers are rotatably mounted on a disc (62) which is rotated by action of a fluid operated cylinder and piston-rack. One carrier is arrested in a spraying position by raising a drive wheel (67) which is in turn driven by a fluid cylinder and pistonrack. The position of the spraying unit 23 is adjustable; it is automatically raised during spraying.</p> |
