Endless roller supported conveyor belt - has stirrups with rollers travelling on rails coupled to endless rope

The conveyor belt runs over return drums, and the top run (1) rests on trough-shaped supporting stirrups (2). These are equipped with rollers (3) running on rails (6), and are coupled to an endless rope (4), travelling over pulleys (5) in the same direction as the belt. Compared with existing designs, where the belt runs over a series of support rollers on stationary mountings, the invention greatly reduces the resistance to be overcome by the drive mechanism.
