<p>1443374 Endless track vehicles JTT POHJOLA 29 Jan 1974 [1 Feb 1973 7 Jan 1974] 04009/74 Heading B7H An endless track vehicle has end rolls 2 mounted by frames 3 about a vertical axis 5 and a track mat 10 constructed to allow lateral bending thus enabling the vehicle to be steered by pivoting frames 3 and constraining the track mat to follow a curved path. The track mat has a central portion 12 which is substantially unstretchable in the longitudinal direction but may bend laterally, this portion may be a continuous band, formed for example of steel or wire strips, or may be formed of articulated members which may be part of transversely extending track elements. Individual substantially rigid track elements 11 may be fixed to the central portion and are shaped to allow for lateral bending; means may be provided to limit the degree of stretching at the track edges during turning. The spaces between the track elements may be filled with resilient material (Fig. 6, not shown) or the ends of the elements may be joined by resilient bands. The track mat maybe formed from articulated elements 31, Fig. 15, of resilient material such as synthetic rubber or plastics, each element having an unstretchable central part 41 and at either side fluted parts include substantially rigid lath portions 33 connected by flexible portions 34. In another arrangement, Fig. 13a, the mat is a continuous band of rubber or plastics having transversely extending reinforced rigid portions 21 interconnected by thinner more flexible portions.</p> |
