<p>The automatic levelling headlight is controlled by a master cylinder whose control piston has an end stop threaded on a coarse threaded adjuster. The adjuster is fixed axially, and when rotated, alters the set point of the headlamp inclination. To hold the setting in place a spring loaded rachet bearing locates on moulded tags at the end of the threaded adjuster. The spacing of the ratchet and the tags is such that the ratchet is only in contact with the adjuster when set between two tags, otherwise it allows the adjuster to rotate without any wear. The adjuster can then be of plastic with a long life.</p> |
