SYSTEM WITH OPTICAL OR RADIO REMOTE CONTROL FOR CLOSING MOTOR VEHICLES

A system with optical (I) or radio (I) remote control for closing motor vehicles comprises a transmitter (S), which corresponds to the key. When actuated by a user, the transmitter (S) broadcasts a digital code (I) to open and possibly to close the vehicle. This broadcast digital code (I) is received by the receiver (E) installed in the motor vehicle. The receiver (E) controls the relevant lock or locks, after comparing the received code (I) with digits stored in the receiver (E) and correlated with the code (I) or with the series of codes (I). The code (I) is initialized as a permanent code or interchangeable code at least when the motor vehicle is first used and reinitialized if the code (I) is subsequently changed. Before the receiver (E) can be (re)initialized, it must first be switched by a signal to its (re)initialization mode. The motor vehicle has a diagnostic interface (D) for electrical testing of motor vehicle units. The receiver (E) is switched for (re)initialization only by a signal fed to it (E) through the diagnostic interface (D).
