Plasma spray carbide coated steel - for use in reinforced concrete and having good bonding strength

In coating the surface of high tensile steel with granulated B carbide a better adhesion is obtained when applying the coating by plasma spraying. Pref. the size of the particles is 50-250 (120)microns), and the carbide has a rhombohedric. The carbide is pref. mixed with powdered Al in a ratio of 2 p.b.w. Al to 5 p.b.w. B carbide. Used for coating steel in prestressed concrete structures.
