A removal carpet for the passenger space of a vehicle consists of a mould-formed polyurethane foam underlay compensation for floor unevenness, and carpet adhesively bonded to it. A fusible adhesive or a different heat-activatable adhesive is used between the underlay and the carpet. This avoids the use of adhesive soln. which may carry a fire or explosion risk due to the solvent, apart from possibly causing atmospheric pollution. A fusible adhesive film may be placed in the mould used for the foam underlay, and foamed onto the face of this ready for the subsequent bonding of the carpet.
