Each hollow cylinder has a series of annular grooves cut into it which is slipped onto the wire before or after the diamond grains are studded or embedded into the grooves. The hollow cylinders are then crimped into place on the wire at the appropriate separation to suit various materials to be cut, e.g. stone or rock. The annular grooves have a width which is only of sufficient width to allow the diamonds to be positioned in a single row. The diamonds may be smeared with an adhesive, such as oil or glue, when being put into the grooves. Before the cylinders are placed in position on the wire, the latter is roughened. Additional securing means such as glueing, welding, or brazing may be used to fasten the cylinders on the wire.
|
