PURPOSE:To measure glucose concentration with high sensitivity by a method wherein an end of a carbon fiber is made protrude at the tip of a glass pipet and a lead line is connected to the other end of the carbon fiber to form a carbon fiber electrode. CONSTITUTION:An end of a carbon fiber 3 is made protrude at the tip of a glass pipet 2 and held by a holding part 2a while a lead line 4 is connected to the other end of the carbon fiber 3 to constitute a carbon fiber electrode 1 wherein an enzyme film is formed on the surface of an electrode part 3a of the protruding carbon fiber 3 or on the surface of the holding part 2a at the tip of the glass pipet 2. Conductive paste 5 electrically connects the carbon fiber 3 with the lead line 4 and epoxy resin 6 fixes the carbon fiber 3. When glucose comes into contact with the enzyme film on the surface of the electrode part 3a, it is oxidized by co-existing oxygen to produce hydrogen peroxide. Since there are numerous pin holes on the enzyme film on the electrode part 3a, the produced hydrogen peroxide comes into contact with the surface of the electrode part 3a so that electric current flows to the electrode 1 allowing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide to be measured. Thus measurement of glucose concentration is possible. |
