<p>The process defrosts the evaporator of a heat pump or refrigerator with a compressor supplied from the evaporator and delivering to a condenser, at whole inlet the heat-transfer medium is expanded. Hot medium is circulated for a predetermined period through the evaporator, this being derived from the condenser outlet. The pressure upstream of the compressor can be set sufficiently low to prevent any liquid particle of the medium used for defrosting penetrating into the compressor. This pressure is well below the vapour pressure of the medium.</p> |
