<p>The bonnet mascot (15) is mounted on a platform (16) which is fitted with special springs (18) at the four edges, in a recess under the mascot. The mounting is released by impact force to drop the mascot into the recess. This prevents injury to pedestrians due to sharp edges. The recess is covered by a profiled plate (12) under the mounting. The plate drops with the mascot to open a large enough aperture for the mascot to drop through. The springs are designed to operate over a large travel.</p> |
