Rubber and similar plastic conveyor belts, with reinforcing fabric and with a number of holes (pref. ending in profiled counterbores) in a top layer, are produced using a vulcanising press. One of the platens of the press has pins which pass through the uncured sheet when the press is closed. The length of these pins is at least the thickness of belt material. The other platen has a covering of elastic material. The press produces good clean holes in one operation and hence 30-40% more cheaply.
