The interfacing for ironing on to the prepared material has a higher melting point layer underneath to save the adhesive upper layer from soaking downwards into the cloth and losing its effect. The first adhesive (14) is scraped (16) into the depression in a grooved roller (1), and smoothed off level with the surface (27); the second adhesive (26), similarly applied, adheres to the first and stands pround of the roller (28). Suction pipes (24, 25) remove any stray particles and leave the pattern clean. The interfacing (8) passes from a heated roller (4), round the adhesive-filled grooves, and off on to a second heated roller (5). Cooling water jackets (17, 23) besides the supply hoppers (10, 11) protect the heat-sensitive adhesive from the warmth.
|
