The mechanism positively locks the housing top cover of a conventional typewriter, teleprinter or data-printing machine in the open position. A slide (10) with side flanges (11) forming part of the top cover (2) is situated opposite a spring wire stirrup (6). One end of the stirrup (7) is inserted in the fixed part of the housing (1) near the extended path in which the slide swings. Its other end (8) has a locking recess for the slide, and it is prevented from moving in the direction of the locking force components. The flange (11) slides sideways in a further guide in the housing. The stirrup lies clear of the flange path where it is in line with the slide swing path. |
