Industrial froth abatement system - in which rising f.oth contacts an electrode of a transistorised circuit which operates an antifoam additive pump

Froth in sewage treatment plants, textile and sugar factories and in paper making machinery is removed by the addn. of antifoam agents. A control electrode is arranged above the fluid level to be monitored and is contacted by the electrically conductive froth when the latter rises. This switches on a pump which sprays an antifoam agent in the fluid. A potentiometer in the circuit is used to adjust the sensitivity to response. This saves the injection of antifoam agents when no froth is produced. It can deal with sudden rises in froth prodn. better than a constant injection.
