The finished chain saw tooth has a shaped body (2) and a top plate (3) bent at a right angle to the body part. The transition area (10) between the side edge and body part (2) and the top part (3) is thickened and provided on the outer surface with a keen edge (4) with a cutting point in direction of the chain saw travel. The body of the tooth (2) is longer than the top plate (3). On the protruding end section there is a depth limiter (6) with a trough (7) separating it from the part carrying the tooth top (3). On the lower end of the body (2) are holes (8, 9) for connecting the individual teeth to the chain. The tooth top (3) tapers towards the free end starting from the transition area (10), giving a chiselling effect.
